Somer L. Bishop, PhD

Somer Bishop was a graduate student at the University of Michigan and worked as a practicum student and then as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan Autism and Communication Disorders Center (UMACC) under the supervision of Cathy Lord and Christina Corsello. While she did not originally enter graduate school to study developmental disorders, she became so interested in assessment and differential diagnosis while working at UMACC, that she switched the topic of her research to focus on autism. After finishing her PhD with Cathy Lord as her mentor, she went on to do a post-doc at UMACC and then at the Waisman Center. She has held faculty positions at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center, University of California San Francisco, and as of 2026, is now a professor at Stanford University. She is interested in measure development and behavioral phenotyping in neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan.
